Putting the nut back in nutrition
Pure x Pip & Nut
Just like us, Pip & Nut believes that tasty food should be made with real, quality ingredients – and a conscience.
As a proud B Corp since 2019, they put people & planet into the plan. That means never using palm oil, working to reduce their carbon footprint, prioritising sustainable sourcing, and maintaining open & honest relationships with farmers & suppliers. We’ve worked with Pip & Nut for many years now, using their natural nut butters to boost our recipes, as well as selling their snacks in store.
Today we’re giving you a closer look at our squirrel friends…
It goes without saying that Pip & Nut are nut-obsessed. Not just because nuts make everything taste better (although they do), but because of all the other superpowers they have. This has been the case since day one.
Back in 2013 their founder & ‘Chief Squirrel’ Pip was running a marathon, but running out of energy. Nut butter should have been the perfect training partner, but all the options were full of rubbish like palm oil & sugar. So she started making her own. Just golden-roasted nuts & a sprinkle of sea salt was all it took to make the perfect creamy, crunchy nut butters (& still is).
Over 10 years later and Pip & Nut’s mission to put the nut back in nutrition is spreading. Fast.
Nut obsessed, naturally.
Nuts might be small, but they punch well above their weight when it comes to nutrition. Here’s three reasons Pip & Nut – and we – can’t get enough of them:
Fibre full. Not so fun fact: over 90% of people in the UK (including children) fall short of the recommended 30g of fibre a day*. Fun fact: nuts are packed with fibre. Adding a spoonful of Pip & Nut’s peanut butter to your porridge or smoothie or toast, or choosing on one of their nutty bars instead of a bog-standard bar is a simple way to help close that gap.
Good fats. The nuts Pip & Nut use are naturally rich in mono- and polyunsaturated fats. Those are the good ones you know from avocados & olive oil that help lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and support long-term heart health.
Low-carbon protein. Nuts are also a great source of plant-based protein, with a fraction of the environmental impact of animal protein like chicken or beef. A 2018 study comparing 22 protein sources found nuts had the lowest carbon footprint per 100g of protein, at just 0.26kg CO2 versus 49.89kg for beef. It’s a win-win.

We love that Pip & Nut is committed to keeping nuts as their number one ingredient across everything they make (Nut Butter, Nut Butter Stuffed Bars, Protein Bars & more). By using real, simple ingredients, the nutritional benefits will come naturally, as does the great taste.
Just like us, Pip & Nut are part of the movement that’s proving healthy food doesn’t need to come at the cost of taste.
