Well, Well, Wellbeing – What Does This Buzzword Really Mean?

When it comes to wellness and wellbeing, recognising that physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing are all tied in together is key in providing effective workplace interventions to support your team. The factors that workplaces can excel in can include providing healthy food, opportunities for social connections, work-life balance in the form of reasonable working hours, movement classes and supporting financial literacy.

So what can your workplace do right now? Why not build social connections with colleagues over a delicious team lunch from Pure. This ticks so many boxes! Social connections, nutritious food and valuable time away from your screen. Another option is offering movement classes and running clubs, but for those that haven’t quite discovered their love of movement, not everyone on the team will benefit (it took me until 2020 to really enjoy). The financial wellness area is absolutely buzzing at the moment with resources popping up everywhere but we all know it’s a long-game here. When we think about stress – there is a limit to what we can do to change external stressors as individuals. The quickest and most powerful way to take control and support ourselves is with good nutrition and connections with our social network. So, lunch it is!

Ingredient Spotlight 💪

Protein Power – Did you know we need protein for energy production in the body?

Protein is vital in the process of energy production. We also need it to maintain muscle, it is the base of our thyroid hormones and we also need it for healthy neurotransmitter production. Neurotransmitters are key communication molecules in the body and we need healthy levels of GABA and serotonin (neurotransmitters) to support feelings of calm and contentment. All in all, very important to support energy and mood. Protein with meals also helps to reduce blood sugar spikes after we eat – our energy is regulated when there’s a slow glucose increase after a meal.

To ensure your team are getting their protein quota whilst also enjoying a deliciously balanced meal then I highly recommend Pure’s Wrap Boxes. These handmade wheatbran wraps are generously filled with super tasty and fantastic protein sources, meaning that these are nutrient power houses – all wrapped up.

Takeaway Health Tip

I reiterate this to all my clients – in order to boost and maintain energy levels throughout the day, there needs to be a protein component in ALL your meals and snacks. Try this for a week and see how you feel. I really hope you will notice a difference in those mid-morning and afternoon energy slumps, if you’re suffering from them currently.
