Great Taste is run by the Guild of Fine Food and judged completely blind — every product is stripped of its packaging and branding before a panel of chefs, food writers, retailers and producers taste it on flavour alone. This year, over 15,000 products from more than 3,900 companies went through that process. A 1-star award means the judges rated it “simply delicious” — no relation to us, no branding to sway them, just the pudding on its own merits.
For a dish as simple as rice pudding, that’s exactly the point. There’s nowhere to hide behind clever packaging or a good name — it either tastes brilliant, or it doesn’t.
